It's about Paul and its unique sense of beauty, its pioneering vision in modern watchmaking. It's about a sophisticated mind that changes the nature of Baume with more lightness, freshness, and a constant search for refinement and elegance. It's about a unique style, our style. Born Paul Tchereditchenko, the son of a Tsarist officer and a french woman named Mercier, he adopted his mother's name when he became a naturalized Swiss citizen. He grew up in Russia and France. He started his career in Paris and London before moving to Geneva in around 1910, where he worked as a salesman for the prestigious Haas firm of jewelers and watchmakers, founded in 1828, becoming its manager. There, he met William Baume in 1912, an encounter that would lead to their partnership and the foundation of Baume & Mercier in 1918. Moving in artistic circles and with some experience in the jewelry, Paul Mercier was instrumental in Baume & Mercier's emphasis on styling and design.
