RIVIERA Chinese New Year Limited Edition – Year of the Snake Baumatic Date 10785

The Riviera Chinese New Year Limited Edition features a sandblasted titanium bezel that mimics the texture of natural rock, harmonizing with the signature mountain and ocean wave of the Riviera series to create a vast and majestic landscape. According to legend, the divine creature Tengshe(螣蛇) , which symbolizes protection and wisdom, usually appears with auspicious clouds. It is capable of bringing rain and safeguarding peace. Baume & Mercier incorporates a snake totem within the dial, creating a mysterious and profound landscape within the space of 39 millimeters. The black snake begins at the southeastern direction, which is the traditional position of the snake in the Chinese zodiac, and its head extends toward the 9 o’clock position. In Chinese culture, the appearance of a snake during the ‘chen’(辰时, refers to 7 - 9 a.m.), is considered as an auspicious sign. The serpent-shaped gilded seconds hand, mirroring a snake's flickering tongue, symbolizes vigilance and heralds auspicious events or the arrival of benefactors.  As the serpentine seconds hand moves steadily with time, it symbolizes unending wisdom and vitality, reflecting the idea that embracing change leads to growth.

The iconic dodecagonal case of the Riviera series represents both the 12-hour clock format and the 12 earthly branches of the Chinese lunar calendar. The muses of avant-garde watchmaking

“I want watches to be integrated into bracelets, rings, pendants, and brooches! Geneva has always been a capital of gold artistry; this is the ideal place to combine watchmaking with jewelry craftsmanship.” With a perfect balance of technical quality and his own contemporary aesthetic of watchmaking, Paul Mercier took great inspiration from women. An elegant, cosmopolitan, trailblazing, sensitive aesthete who passionately loved art and had extensive experience in jewelry, he instigated Baume & Mercier’s orientation when he joined forces with the brilliant, pragmatic watchmaker William Baume in 1918. The Brand is still loyal to that approach today. 

“We are finally talking about watchmaking as if there were more to this world than men. Women, my friend, women! They do not want to be relegated to the simple task of setting their husbands’ watches! They also want to be able to master time, and not simply by carrying a ridiculous men’s ‘turnip watch’! Thanks to the miniaturization of movements and the generalization of wrist-worn models, watches will become actual bracelets: true jewelry pieces. Look at how women are becoming liberated today! The suffragettes of England are demanding the right to vote. And the 1910 International Women’s Conference in Copenhagen has claimed – take note! – an International Women’s Day! I believe that we stand at the threshold of huge changes in this sector, which will reflect those being made in society. It might be too early to mention for the moment. We’ll talk about it again in five or six years, if you like.” 

In his view, the Baume & Mercier watch would have to be very precise, but also elegant, modern, and always in step with its times. He immediately understood that women represented a blossoming market, and that they were sensitive to the beauty and whimsy of timepieces. He also knew that new technologies would release watches from certain limitations and pave the way for creativity. He began to design jewelry watches that caused a sensation. In the 1920 Davoine General Indicator of Watchmaking, an advertisement praises the Brand’s “haute Fantaisie pour Dames” (or “high fantasy for women”). A demonstration, if any were needed, that the House has always been a trailblazer in its feminine, artistic vision of watchmaking.

Early on, Baume & Mercier highlighted the active, self-reliant woman: one who broke with tradition and influenced the fashions of the times while maintaining a precious touch of femininity. The kind of woman who stepped out of her conventional role, aspired to her own freedom to choose, and demonstrated both pertinence and determination. In a 1950s advertisement, the House presented a female doctor as the embodiment of the potential client for the watch it was highlighting. The message emphasized the fact that the client was interested in more than just the aesthetic of the case: she also cared about the movement itself, and was ready to invest in a high-end mechanism. Because her responsibilities gave her a reason to possess a watch in which she could place her trust: one which would be precise and reliable for many years.

The House continued to assert its style throughout the Roaring Twenties and the Art Deco period. It launched the first “shape” wristwatches, dials in shimmering color ranges, and extra- and ultra-slim watches among the finest on the market. In particular, it specialized in what were known as “baguette” movements, ideal for original women’s watch cases in rectangular, square, barrel, and cushion shapes.

Ever since, with enthusiasm and inventiveness supported by discipline, Baume & Mercier has been thrilling women’s hearts by devoting timepieces to them, each more surprising, sophisticated, practical, original, casual, and precious than the last. All bear the seal of a design in perfect proportions and with precise lines, with an irreproachable, reliable Swiss technical quality.

The major women’s pieces by Baume & Mercier

The revolutionary “shackle”-type bracelet of the Marquise model, first presented in 1947, remained one of the House’s bestsellers until 1960. 

The 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s heralded new adornments for its unique savoir-faire: mother-of-pearl and ornamental stones such as onyx, lapis-lazuli, and turquoise, as well as spectacular jewelry models in gold, including some cuff versions. In 1972 and 1973, the refined extravagance of its Mimosa, Stardust (photo left) et Galaxie (photo right) watches was recognized at the prestigious Rose d’Or watchmaking and jewelry competition of Baden-Baden, held in Düsseldorf.

The iconic Riviera, with its surprising dodecagonal case, was first launched in 1973 and was beloved by women seeking sports elegance. For its 50th anniversary, its sculptural silhouette took on sophisticated finishes and brilliant colors, and was made available in 33 and 36 mm. 1987 marked the arrival on the watchmaking scene of the Linea, a timepiece with a simple, streamlined, perfectly round design. The rectangular case of the Hampton, with its vintage Art Deco look, challenged the established codes in 1994. Its pure, curved lines took on the most stylish blue, burgundy, or black tones for women seeking subtle plays on colors and materials. One year later, it was up to the Classima to reveal its round, understated, discreet case. Then, in 1997, for those enamored with luxury, the Catwalk appeared, with its cuff bracelet style. In 2004, the incredible Vice Versa made its entrance, with the time displayed not on the wrist, but beneath it. In 2005, the luminous Diamant dazzled, with its distinctive domed crystal and the personal diamond set into its crown. That sophisticated detail made a comeback in 2008, in the soft form of the Iléa, a round case with an inimitably curvaceous bezel. Promesse, released in 2014, rose to the same elegance and preciousness with its oval bezel – broader at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock – within a polished or gem-set round watch case set with red gold or mother-of-pearl. The Classima Starry Sky Editions, an ode to a nigh under the stars

Between the Jura Mountains in Les Bois, Switzerland, Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume brother opened the legend of Baume & Mercier, which is also the beginning of the winter love story. Inspired by the sky of the Jura, Baume & Mercier releases the Classima TimeVallée Exclusive Edition in 2024. The brilliant-cut diamonds resemble the starlit sky, sparkling like wishes made under the stars, illuminated by the passage of time. The moon's cold glow, the moon-phase dial opens like a window to a starry night. The deep blue of the dial is taken from the night sky of the town in Jura Mountains as the sun sets and night falls.  The moon-phase dial is placed at the 12 o’clock, surrounded by stars. Unspoken wishes from the day turn into a romantic and dreamlike moment.

True feelings and the authentic self are worthy of being cherished.

All three of the new, exquisitely refined gem-set pieces demonstrate the precious, authentic approach that is so important to Baume & Mercier. Their beautiful dials show the technical skill and meticulous, patient, precise work of its artisans. The diamond-set watch case reveals the gems’ radiance. A quartz movement with a 3-year autonomy powers this model. It is water-resistant to 5 ATM (approximately 50 m).

It is mounted on a blue alligator strap with all-square scales. It is interchangeable without the need for tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system. The pin buckle is crafted in stainless steel.

The edition is exclusive to TimeVallée, and is limited to 150 timepieces.

The aesthetic appeal of this delicate white mother-of-pearl dial is set into motion by rhodium-plated Roman numerals and indexes, a pearl gray minute track, blue leaf hands, and the presence of 30 brilliant-cut diamonds (Top Wesselton, quality VS, 0.06 carat). The subtle shimmer of the material, which glistens with each movement of the wrist, brings this luminous timepiece to life. The date appears in a discreet aperture at 3 o’clock.

The round case, with a diameter of 31 mm and a thickness of 8.25 mm, is crafted in polished stainless steel and topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Its steel crown is cabochon-shaped and set with a synthetic blue spinel. The back is also protected by a sapphire crystal.

The self-winding movement offers a 42-hour power reserve and oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph). It is water-resistant to 5 ATM (approximately 50 m). 

Its interchangeable strap is crafted in blue alligator with all-square scales featuring tone-on-tone overstitching on the top. A very robust, reliable spring bar system makes it possible to change the strap without the use of tools, on a whim. It fastens with a stainless steel pin buckle.

The edition is exclusive to TimeVallée, and is limited to 150 timepieces.

Classima BMM0A10808

Precious and airy, its white mother-of-pearl dial is wreathed with 30 brilliant-cut diamonds (Top Wesselton, quality VS, 0.06 carat), meticulously aligned in a circular stream. They enhance the ring of rhodium-plated Roman numerals and indexes and the pearl gray minute track. Blue leaf hands spin within these concentric circles, edged by the case set with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds (Top Wesselton, quality VS, 0.29 carat).  The date appears in an aperture at 3 o’clock.

The diamonds of the piece total 0.36 carat.

Protected by a scratch-proof sapphire crystal, the round, polished stainless steel case features the perfect proportions of 31 mm in diameters and 8.25 mm in thickness. Its steel crown is cabochon-shaped and set with a synthetic blue spinel. The back is also protected by a sapphire crystal.

Both classic and modern, the Clifton collection carries forward this tradition through shapely curves, meticulous crafting, ideal dimensions, and the discreet, natural sophistication of a round case. The Clifton collection evokes the spirit of a gentleman from the 1950s, highlighting the utmost refinement in attitude and dress code. Menswear of the time was dominated by close-fitting suits, fitted jackets and pleated trousers, often tailor-made. Some, very sought-after by businessmen, were designed to time telephone conversations. Others, created with doctors in mind, featured a pulse measurement scale.

These chronographs from the 1950s are now among the Baume & Mercier collector’s pieces. Functional, precise, and elegant, they embody the values of the brand, which enjoys a reputation comparable to the one it enjoyed in the beginning of the last century. Considered one of the most prominent watchmakers of the 1950s and 1960s, Baume & Mercier flourished in the United States, which became its second most prominent market after Italy. In 1955, the brand inaugurated a branch in New York City.

Under the influence of the stylistic codes of the times, round timepieces represented the height of refinement that gentlemen sought after. Typically crafted in gold and mounted on a leather strap, the fine case generally revealed a light-colored dial punctuated with Arabic numerals beneath a delicately domed crystal. The design was streamlined and sophisticated.

A collection recognized for its boldness since 1994

The illustrious HAMPTON collection marked another of the brand’s aesthetic breakthroughs in the history of steel shape watches when it was first released in 1994. The rectangular case, featuring pure lines and curves as well as softened corners, is inspired by an iconic model from the 1960s, and features an Art Deco style inspired by the 1920s. An artistic ode to the passage of time along a delicate minute track, this sober, elegant formal balance lends itself to all sorts of variations: cases in stainless steel or gold, dials of every color, in simple or diamond-studded jewelry versions. Graphic and chromatic effects bring new perspectives to its ideal proportions. For both men and women, this watch embodies absolute elegance and adapts to every trend, which it anticipates in the great Baume & Mercier timepiece tradition. Featuring high-tech materials and a sporty spirit, the Hampton “K” model, released in 1998, was mounted on a black Kevlar® fiber strap. The ever-more-curvaceous gold Hampton Milleis inaugurated the year 2000. It was followed by the Hampton Spirit, of which the panoramic case pays tribute to the omnipresence of screens and information; meanwhile, the Hampton City is inspired by contemporary urban architecture.

The Hampton watch is the perfect territory for artistic expression, with a rectangular shape that evokes a canvas. It became the showcase for a timekeeping transposition of the work of the great artist Pierre Soulages, creator of the Outrenoirs. Both reveal luminous, refined finishes that demonstrate the careful work of the craftsmen at the Manufacture in Les Brenets: a grained opaline silver dial, Arabic numerals, riveted indexes, and gold-tone hands. The cabochon-shaped gold-tone PVD steel crown, adorned with black agate – a stone thought to stimulate one’s inner strength, pragmatic spirit, and motivation to change – perfects each one with an exquisitely elegant finishing touch.

The classical yet contemporary allure of the Hampton M0A10752 coordinates with the black alligator strap that flatters the beauty of this gold timepiece.

The integrated three-row strap of the Hampton M0A10751 plays on the very elaborate, harmonious alternation of steel links and rose gold-plated steel links. This bicolor combination of links is a historical characteristic of Baume & Mercier watches. This type of strap – already present in the Hampton collection – also adorned the 1973 Riviera, which featured a central gold link and two exterior steel links. The following generations of the collection perpetuated the bicolor strap. The Linea included one, as did the CapeLand, and it appeared in the Clifton, Classima, and Promesse collections, both for men and women.

Hampton M0A10752

The rectangle-in-a-rectangle that adorns its grained opaline dial highlights the very fine gray minute track. Along it, the Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock, riveted indexes, and faceted “glaive” hands – all gold-tone – indicate the hours and minutes. Their straight, neat, slender graphic allure is seductively dignified.

The polished (750/1000) rose gold and titanium case asserts the perfect proportions for a woman’s wrist according to Baume & Mercier, the brand that adopted the Greek letter Phi – a reference to the golden ratio – as its emblem: 35 x 22.2 mm. It is 6.9 mm thick, and is protected by a scratch-proof domed sapphire crystal. In gold-tone PVD steel, its cabochon-shaped crown is set with a black agate. The solid titanium case back may be engraved.

Its interchangeable black alligator strap, featuring all-square scales and tone-on-tone overstitching, may be removed and replaced without the use of tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system.

Hampton M0A10751

The hours and minutes tick by, sweeping past Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock, gold-tone riveted indexes, gold-tone “glaive” faceted hands, and a gray minute track that perfectly harmonizes with the luminous grained and opaline adornment of the dial.

The gold-tone finishes and polished stainless steel of the case – measuring 35 x 22.2 mm and with a thickness of 6.9 mm – complement and flatter each other. The case is protected by a scratch-proof domed sapphire crystal. The gold-tone PVD steel crown is shaped like a cabochon and prettily adorned with an inset black agate. The solid case back may be custom-engraved.

With a suppleness that offers optimal comfort, the three-row steel strap in stainless steel and satin-polished rose gold-tone steel (GC200) is interchangeable. It may be replaced without the use of tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system.

The triple folding clasp with security push-pieces is crafted in stainless steel.

The chromatic inspiration of the French Riviera’s natural landscape

The new Riviera watches reflect the contrasting colors of this Mediterranean landscape, including greenery, minerals, and the sea. The green dials of the Riviera M0A10770 and Riviera M0A10763 evoke the pine groves that overlook the sea and line the wooded mountains along the coast, wind-swept silhouettes stretched towards the sky or slightly curved towards the horizon.

The terracotta dial – terracotta being Italian for “baked earth” – of the Riviera M0A10764 mirrors the intense, sun-drenched color of the earth, the Massif de l’Esterel and its chain of hillsides in incandescent volcanic rock. Iridescent in the sunlight with tones of ocher, pink and orange, these minerals scintillate like the glittering lights that appear along the coastline as the French Riviera’s legendary festive nightlife gets underway at nightfall.

The dark blue dial of the Riviera M0A10768 draws its inspiration from the sea’s mysterious, dreamy depths. It is an invitation to dive into the vivifying waters or to set sail on its dancing waves.

The meticulous craftsmanship of these dials brings out the subtle nuances of each of these colors, enhanced by the transparent or tone-on-tone transfer wave decorations of each model. The radiant light of the Riviera is sculpted into each detail.

The sport-chic versatility of the Riviera

Baume & Mercier launched the Riviera, a sports elegance watch, in 1973. In fact, it was one of the first sports watches in the world to be crafted in steel. It also brought a chic allure to steel, and not gold, contrary to the dictates of the time. Ever since, that dual identity has revealed many variations throughout the generations of its collection, alternating steel, gold/steel, and solid gold, and also embracing the codes of diving watches. In 2004, the fourth generation distinguished a “Classic” line which enriched its dial with various materials and arrangements; as well as a “Sport” line which reinforced its athletic side by adding four screws to its bezel. 2023 marked the creation of refined, gem-set feminine models.

The new Rivieras carry forward this aspiration.

The Riviera M0A10770 and M0A10764 models assert very elegant finishes: dials respectively crafted in smoked and sun-satin lacquered sapphire; a bezel in polished and sun-satin stainless steel; and a satin-polished stainless steel strap. The Riviera M0A10770 presents gold-tone Roman numerals, indexes, and hands. From a technical point of view, this model beats to the rhythm of a self-winding Baumatic manufacture movement, the epitome of sophistication. The terracotta color of the Riviera M0A10764 dial highlights the refinement of this unisex piece.

More masculine and sporty in their approach, the Riviera M0A10763 and M0A10768 each assert a sandblasted ADLC-coated steel bezel fastened with four screws, also in sandblasted ADLC-coated steel, and a rubber strap. This bold stylistic approach reinforces the athletic allure of both watches.

Riviera M0A10770: a green dial inspired by the pine groves that overlook the coast

A subtle play on dark and light – like the dappled shade of pine branches – adorns this smoked green sapphire dial. The Riviera’s iconic wave decor, in transparent transfers on this version, accentuates the impression of swaying shade. Time stretches out majestically between the gold-tone Roman numerals and riveted indexes coated with white Superluminova (blue glow), the faceted gold-tone hour and minute hands also coated with white Superluminova (blue glow), and the gold-tone seconds hand. The date appears in a broad aperture at 3 o’clock.

In satin-polished stainless steel, the case features the perfect proportions so distinctive of Baume & Mercier: 39 mm in diameter and 10.2 mm in thickness. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides. Fastened by four polished steel screws, the bezel is finished with just as much refinement in polished and sun-satin stainless steel. The sapphire crystal of the dodecagonal case back, held in place by four steel screws, reveals the beauty of the watch mechanism. The case back may be engraved. Baume & Mercier began to distinguish itself early in its history for the slenderness of its timepieces, among the slimmest in the world. When, in 1920, it appeared in the Code Davoine – the general directory for watchmakers in Switzerland and neighboring countries –, it was listed as a “Fine Watchmaking Manufacture” specializing in “highly creative women’s watches and slim and ultra-slim watches.” In 1923, an advertisement appeared in the same register bearing witness to that same expertise for men’s slim and ultra-slim watches. The Brand’s watchmaking art continued to be confirmed through the decades through its aesthetic and technical innovations, demonstrated by slim and ultra-slim watches as well as other models.

The new Classima timepieces carry forward this tradition through a slender, shapely round case with tight, precise lines. They express the design approach to shape watches in which Baume & Mercier has been excelling since Paul Mercier, in joining forces with the watchmaker William Baume in 1918, brought his artistic sensibility to the House. The models M0A10766, M0A10767, and M0A10780 have a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 6 mm; for model M0A10762, the measurements are 39 mm and 5 mm, respectively. These perfect proportions reflect the House’s uncompromising pursuit of perfection, showcasing the ideal balance in the formal design of its timepieces. Their finesse is the guarantee of a discreet elegance that gets noticed with admiring glances.

Abundant, exacting creativity 

Each Classima model pursues this aspiration. The latest chronographs recently unveiled at Watches & Wonders are examples of this exacting, insatiable stylistic quest, combining structural finesse, elegance, and an athletic spirit. Their lacquered sun-satin dials – respectively blue, sand and green – feature azure subdials, edged with an inner colored flange, and hands and indexes that stretch out majestically; and their cases have stylish push-buttons placed at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock, illustrating the signature of Baume & Mercier. The attention to detail that is so important to the House has given rise to the collection’s many variations.

The new Classima models M0A10766, M0A10767, M0A10780 and M0A10762 offer contrasts with their blue, sand, green, and black dials through the slender lines of their Roman numerals, hands, indexes, and minute track. They reflect the architecture of a tinted inner flange that edges the dial and provides further depth. The chromatic and spatial relationship between each of the time and calendar indications is meticulously considered by the watchmakers and artisans of the Les Brenets Manufacture so that they make an impression both individually and collectively, both aesthetically and technically. Their design, functioning, and readability form a coherent whole within the unique watch case. The four Classima watches are also distinctive for the lines of their dials, fashioned to resemble the Holland & Sherry fabric of the straps on which they are mounted, following the same direction as the fabric’s weave at a 45-degree angle.

Straps crafted in luxury English fabrics

The straps of the four new Classima models are adorned in wool, a fine fabric in natural fibers made by the prestigious British Holland & Sherry House, which has been supplying the greatest tailors and luxury brands since 1836. They are crafted in the same fabrics as the bespoke gentlemen’s suits fashioned in the London area of Savile Row, where the boutique has been established since 1982. Their diagonally-lined designs and colors, which reflect those of the dials, are truly the height of elegance.

The green sun-satin and opaline dial beams, adorned with a lined decoration and enhanced by the green flange surrounding it. The tight, delicate rhodium-plated Roman numerals, white indexes, rhodium-plated leaf hands, and white minute track indicate the hours and minutes in a magnificent chromatic alternation that offers great readability. The date appears in an aperture at 3 o’clock.

A deep love for skateboarding

Born in Lyon on February 3, 1998, Aurélien Giraud began to skate at the age of four when his father gave him his first board. The young beginner immediately fell in love with the sport and revealed a natural talent for it. He got noticed at the V7 Teenage Tour three years later and went on to win a number of international competitions, becoming amateur world champion at the age of 15. That was when his career really took off. He concentrated on his objectives, worked hard, and faced off with prodigious competitors, particularly in 2019 at the Californian Dew Tour. In 2022, his efforts earned him the gold medal at the FISE World Montpellier, a silver medal at World Street Skateboarding Rome, and a gold medal at the French Championship in Hyères. His crowning achievement occurred on February 5, 2023, in the United Arab Emirates, when he triumphed at the World Street Skateboarding Championships, a feat that no Frenchman had ever accomplished before. His consecration was confirmed in April 2024 in Paris, where he won first place at the Street League Skateboarding Championship. Believing in himself and in his dreams, and putting in the work to achieve them: such is his leitmotiv.

A dynamic design for a limited edition of 100 

The Riviera Aurélien Giraud Special Edition watch asserts a young, dynamic aesthetic with a red central seconds hand. The same energetic color coats the letter Phi, extends along one of the ends of the hand, and appears on the strap. In a reference to the golden ratio, the Greek letter Phi became the emblem of Baume & Mercier in 1964. It symbolizes the Brand’s attention to the perfect proportions, precise lines, and harmonious materials and colors of its timepieces.

The very graphic strap is crafted in a combination of rubber and Alcantara and topped with white overstitching which reflects the digits, indexes, and hour and minute hands, all coated with white Superluminova. The time stands out in stark contrast, capturing the eye for easy readability. A special engraving, created for the occasion – representing the logo of Aurélien Giraud and the limited number of the piece – appears on the back of the case.

The luminous dial in smoked gray sapphire subtly unveils the transparent transfer wave decoration characteristic of the Riviera Collection. In an accentuated chromatic alternation, the Roman numerals and riveted indexes are rhodium-plated and coated with white Superluminova (blue glow). The faceted rhodium-plated hour and minute hands are also coated with white Superluminova, offering a blue glow. The bright red seconds hand is strikingly slender. An aperture displays the date at 3 o’clock.

With a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 10.6 mm, the iconic dodecagonal case of the Riviera is crafted in sand-blasted ADLC-coated steel. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides. Fastened by four screws in ADLC-coated steel, the bezel is crafted in sand-blasted ADLC-coated steel. The dodecagonal case back is also fastened with four screws and topped with a sapphire crystal that reveals the watch mechanism. The free octagonal crown in sand-blasted ADLC-coated steel bears the embossed Phi logo in red with a steel outline.

The self-winding Baumatic manufacture movement reveals magnificent beaded-finish bridges, a sand-blasted and snailed baseplate, and an openworked oscillating weight with "Côtes de Genève" and snailed decorations. This watch is a masterpiece of modern design inspired by the minimalist lines and bold shapes of the villas that cling to this rock sculpted by the Mediterranean elements. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides reveals its every detail. Fastened by four screws in sandblasted ADLC-coated steel, the bezel glows in polished and sun-satin stainless steel. A black bezel ring in anodized aluminum visually connects the bezel and caseband. The caseback, also twelve-sided and fastened with four screws, is protected by a sapphire crystal and may be engraved. The free octagonal crown is adorned with the Phi logo that Baume & Mercier chose as an emblem in 1964, embossed and delineated in black.  

Highlighted by vertical brushed finishes, the faceted black dial is beautifully openworked. Its decoration, composed of orderly solids and airy voids, is topped with faceted, openworked oxidized hands coated with white Superluminova which glow blue in the dark.  

A self-winding movement drives this timepiece: this exclusive semi-skeleton caliber is designed exclusively for Baume & Mercier. Its magnificent, specially crafted black oscillating weight is openworked to reflect the geometric shapes of the dial. Beginning in February 2024, the Brand begins its journey to the Riviera by presenting a sneak preview of the first timepiece in the Riviera colors, which features a nautical touch: the Riviera Maréographe. 

10:00 a.m. - As the morning waves lap the coast of the Riviera, a tide watch is set into movement. Its high-contrast blue design mirrors the ocean, while its tide-measurement abilities reflect the sailing spirit of the region. The one who wears this watch drops anchor to better admire the sea, Riviera on the wrist. As the breakers roll past, the timepiece provides insight in the form of precise measurements which demonstrate the watchmaker’s savoir-faire. As the open sea takes on the purple hues of the setting sun, the Riviera continues to tell the time, relentlessly expressing the emotion and power that emanate from the water. The polished and sun-satin stainless steel bezel is fastened with four polished steel screws in sandblasted ADLC-coated steel. The dodecagonal case back is fastened with four screws and may be customized with your choice of engraving. It also bears a special engraving, “Special Edition One Out of 500.” The octagonal crown is screwed in and decorated with the brand’s emblem, the Phi logo, embossed and delineated in black. The manufacture complication – which is a signature of Baume & Mercier and a regular fixture in the Clifton model – was introduced into the Riviera collection in 2023 for its 50th anniversary with a 40 mm steel model produced in a limited edition of just 50 watches. Based on the shining success of that edition, the watchmaking expertise of this iconic watch is further reinforced this year. The technical achievement is encapsulated in a dodecagonal case with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of just 11.8 mm. The polished satin-finished stainless steel case is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides. Fastened by four screws, the bezel is crafted in polished satin-finished stainless steel. The dodecagonal case back is covered with a sapphire crystal and fastened with four steel screws. The free octagonal crown is wreathed in a black outline. The brand’s emblem, the Phi logo, appears at the center.  

Demonstrating the savoir-faire of Baume & Mercier, the dial remains perfectly legible despite its complexity, displaying a variety of information in a remarkably understated aesthetic. It is gray with vertical brushed finishes and three azure counters. Its indexes are riveted and rhodium-plated. The hour and minute hands are openworked and rhodium-plated. The seconds hand carries the Phi logo as a counterweight on its extremity. The counter hands are crafted in black polished and oxidized bicolor steel. The leap year hand is red. The moon phase disk is polished and rhodium-plated with a black lacquer finish.   

The self-winding Baumatic manufacture movement includes a Dubois-Dépraz module and guarantees this exquisite timepiece excellent precision, a five-day power reserve (120 hours), and protection against everyday magnetic fields. These three pieces expand the collection, expressing the traditional yet contemporary spirit for which the Classima stands. They combine Swiss technical excellence and fine craftsmanship, and their discreet sophistication makes each one an easy timepiece to wear in all circumstances. Their classic aesthetic is showcased by a fine, round, curvy case with noble features, encapsulating Baume & Mercier’s exactingness in designing understated timepieces with perfect proportions and precise, slender lines.  

On the bright dials of the Classima M0A10784, M0A10782 and M0A10783, the indexes are elongated, skimmed by the hands that surge forward with the passing hours. The chronograph returns to the Classima Collection  

A beloved feature of models from the Classima Collection, the chronograph is a complication that has set Baume & Mercier apart since the beginning of its history, from the time when it first began to craft watches under the name “Baume & Co.” At the time, the company participated in a number of chronometry competitions. The Brand continuously triumphed, achieving the score of 85.1 / 100 points for a split-second chronograph in 1887. In 1893, it set a record for precision – only broken ten years later – with a keyless chronograph featuring a tourbillon escapement that scored a total of 91.9 / 100 points. At the end of the 1930s, it crafted chronographs with tachymeter and telemeter scales, which it perfected in the 1940s and 1950s through developments particularly marked by a chronograph with triple date and moon-phase complications. The scale design was carried over to the dial of a 2005 Classima design. Baume & Mercier combines functionality with elegance in these exceptional timepieces with gold models, including some in cushion and square shapes. The Malibu line brought back the technical and sporty chronographs launched in the early 1990s. The Capeland watch provided beautiful inspiration for it. The complication entered the Riviera Collection in 1993. The Transatlantic model, which became the Brand’s classic refined chronograph, evolved into the Collection Classima in 1997.  

These three new chronographs – M0A10784, M0A10782 and M0A10783 – are the deserving heirs that superbly showcase this remarkable expertise. Their precision is magnificently enhanced by stylized push-pieces located at 2 and 4 o’clock.  

Classima M0A10784 

In this sophisticated version, the sun satin-finished lacquered blue dial and flange glow, as do the three snailed counters, respectively highlighting the chronograph and small seconds. Respectively located at 12 and 6 o’clock, their delicate shapes are emphasized by a golden outline. The finely riveted indexes, leaf-shaped hands, and minute track harmoniously reflect the golden tone. Two apertures at 3 o’clock reveal the day and date.  

With a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 13.2 mm, the iconic round case of the Classima is crafted in polished stainless steel. A scratch-proof domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while another on the back reveals the beauty of the watch mechanism. Two push-pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock are dedicated to the chronograph function, which measures and displays time intervals. One push-piece controls the chronograph with a start-and-stop command, while the other resets the counters.  

The Classima M0A10784 is driven by an automatic movement at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) with a 48-hour power reserve. The watch is water-resistant to 5 ATM (approximately 50 m).  

This model is mounted on a blue alligator strap with all-square scales and tone-on-tone overstitching.  It is easily interchangeable without the need for tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system. It fastens with an interchangeable double folding clasp in stainless steel with security push-pieces.  

Classima M0A10782 

This luminous version sets another tone with a sun-satin sand-colored dial featuring snailed counters for the chronograph and small seconds. Anthracite counters at 12 and 6 o’clock reflect the color of the flange, creating a harmonious, contrasting stylistic effect. The riveted indexes – like the leaf-shaped hour, minute, and small seconds hands – are crafted in ruthenium. The leaf-shaped hour and minute hands of the chronograph, like the seconds hand, are rhodium-plated. The small seconds hand of the chronometer is white-tipped and the minute track is also white. The easy-to-read date and day appear in two apertures located at 3 o’clock.  

The round, polished stainless steel case, with its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, forms a beautiful showcase with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 13.2 mm. The back is protected by a sapphire crystal and may be engraved. Two push-pieces, located at 2 and 4 o’clock, control the chronograph functions: one starts and stops the time interval activation, while the other resets the counters.  

Equipped with an automatic movement, this timepiece beats to a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and features a power reserve of 48 hours and water-resistance to 5 ATM (approximatively 50 m).  

The Classima M0A10782 features an interchangeable strap in sand-colored nubuck calfskin with tone-on-tone overstitching. The strap may be changed without the use of tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system.   

The stainless steel double folding clasp features security push-pieces.  

Classima M0A10783 

This Classima version combines a sun-satin green dial with a slate-colored flange and slate-colored snailed counters for the chronograph and small seconds, located at 12 and 6 o’clock. This refined expression in deep colors features rhodium-plated riveted indexes, while the leaf-shaped hour, minute, and small seconds hands are crafted in ruthenium. The leaf-shaped seconds hands – like the hour and minute hands of the chronometer – are rhodium-plated. As a stylistic touch and a readable feature, the small seconds hand of the chronograph has a white tip and the minute track is also white. The day and date appear in two separate apertures at 3 o’clock.  

With a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 13.2 mm, the case is crafted in polished stainless steel and topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The back may be personalized with an engraving and is also equipped with a sapphire crystal. Two push-pieces, respectively located at 2 and 4 o’clock, control the chronograph. One stops and starts the function, while the other resets the hands.  

This timepiece is driven by an automatic movement that beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph). It has a 48-hour power reserve and is water-resistant to 5 ATM (approximatively 50 m).  

The brownish-gray tone of the nubuck calfskin, featuring tone-on-tone overstitching, highlight the green and slate hues of the dial. The strap is interchangeable without the need for tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system.  

Its stainless steel double folding clasp offers the same comfort and surety with its security push-pieces.

The hours, minutes, seconds, moon phases, and date are displayed on a lacquered blue dial in a harmoniously intense color gradation. The slightly elongated trapezoid indexes are riveted, faceted, and rhodium-plated. The alpha-shaped hour and minute hands are faceted and rhodium-plated. The seconds and date hands are rhodium-plated. The date appears on a riveted, rhodium-plated ring that showcases it and surrounds the polished, blue-lacquered, rhodium-plated moon-phase disk. 

The watch case, 39 mm in diameter and 12.2 mm thick, and crown are crafted in satin-polished stainless steel. A domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides protects the case. Fastened with four screws, the back may be engraved.

The riveted, faceted, gold-tone indexes are slightly elongated and trapezoid-shaped. The alpha-shaped hour and minute hands are faceted and gold-plated. The seconds and date hands are gold-plated. The date is indicated on a gold-tone ring at the center of the polished, black-lacquered, gold-plated moon-phase disk, which makes its rounds against a starry sky background.  

This poetic complication is framed by a 39 mm round case with a thickness of 12.2 mm crafted, like the crown, in satin-polished stainless steel. It is with a great deal of emotion that Baume & Mercier reveals its second unique timepiece based on one of the great master’s works. This new original creation – the outcome of an extraordinary collaboration with the extraordinary painter and the Musée Soulages of Rodez – pays tribute to the artist and expresses the strength and beauty of the poignant legacy that he left behind. The “Hampton Polyptyque Edition – Musée Soulages 10th Anniversary” watch is inspired by the painting Peinture 324 x 362 cm, 1986, Polyptyque I Edition from the series Outrenoirs.

“Pierre Soulages is connected with Baume & Mercier on many levels: humanistic and artistic, cordial and technical, and through the museum and timepieces that bear his name.  The first “Hampton Hommage à Pierre Soulages” timepiece, released in February 2022, was a testimonial to Baume & Mercier’s admiration for the great artist Pierre Soulages.  The second watch that we dedicate to him, which we are revealing today, represents the materialization of our dream: the creative embodiment of our connection. This one is inspired by our first encounter with the artist in person, in June 2021, when Pierre Soulages and his wife Colette invited us to their villa in Sète. It was at the precise moment when he suggested that we place a delicate touch of gold on each of the watch hands that we understood the extent to which he wanted to help us consider the design of the first watch, as well as those to come.”

How the project came about

Just over a year ago, with humbleness and great sincerity, Baume & Mercier sought out the Musée Soulages, an international reference of the work of Pierre Soulages. In 2005, the artist donated a collection of 250 works and 250 documents to the urban community of Greater Rodez, and the museum was founded on the basis of that donation. It is a true extension of the painter’s studio in the spirit of his beloved Aveyron heritage.

In the springtime of 2021, Pierre Soulages and his wife Colette invited the Baume & Mercier executive team to their villa in Sète. All those in presence were captivated by the man’s humbleness and attentiveness. More than a talented figure, he proved to be a very likable human being. The curator of Musée Soulages was also there. We were all warmly welcomed. The first contact we made was with a long, admiring gaze. Then the Artistic Director of Baume & Mercier introduced the initial design project to Pierre Soulages. The idea thrilled him, and the artistic approach did too. And so the creative process got underway. The discussion turned to the way of representing his light-and-shadow work on a timepiece, and how to miniaturize the Outrenoir work to fit that scale. Each participant expressed their own vision of time, jointly taking inspiration from their differences. Colette Soulages and the museum curator also took part in the artistic metamorphosis. Eyes ablaze, mind alert, Pierre Soulages engaged with a lively spirit, challenging the team in technical and aesthetic terms. He advocated for the time to be displayed as invisibly as possible. He was an attentive, generous guide in transposing his pictorial universe to a timepiece. He questioned whether the overall appearance of a timepiece might be suspended. Going beyond the standard two-handed form, he entered a transcendent creative dimension to imagine spherical figures that would appear to float over the dial, which he would place at the tips of the hands. He then considered the color gold to contrast with the black. The collective reflection continued in the painter’s studio. It was a unique moment with a fascinating artist who, in his own way, led Baume & Mercier towards an approach that continues to influence the Brand’s creations. The exclusive “Hampton Polyptyque Edition – Musée Soulages 10th Anniversary” timepieces immortalize this extraordinary encounter, and Baume & Mercier is proud to have been able to give the painter a timepiece dedicated to him. 

The “Hampton Polyptyque Edition – Musée Soulages 10th Anniversary” watch is even more a tribute to him, since it carries the painter’s personality and symbolizes the union of both visions: that of the contemporary artist and that of Baume & Mercier.

This special edition also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Rodez-based Musée Soulages, with which the Brand has established a solid, authentic relationship since the launch of the first edition.

The heritage of Pierre Soulages

For Baume & Mercier, designing a timepiece inspired by the work of Pierre Soulages is a way of express an admiration for his art, as well as our gratitude to have received so much from one of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Bedazzling and questioning, his work continues to inspire our sensibilities and minds, leaving us spellbound. The idea of carrying on his legacy has taken on an even more earnest resonance since his death. The creative exchange that brought life to these exclusive timepieces is a precious heirloom that will forever remain a part of the history of the Brand.

From dark to light

Beginning in 1979, Pierre Soulages painted his canvases entirely in black. More precisely, he layered different textures of black, applying them with various tools and brushes to reveal shiny, matte, powdery, dull, slick, striated, polished, and even sharp-edged effects. He brought attention to the quality of the light reflected off the black surface, creating effects by shaping the texture of the paint, cutting into the black texture of acrylic to alternate matte and shine, texture and smoothness, in low-relief.

The Noir-Lumière series was named Outrenoir in 1989. The painting that inspired the dial of this watch is part of that series. Peinture 324 x 362 cm, 1986, Polyptyque I is an oil on canvas measuring 324 x 362 cm: a gigantic polyptych made up of four overlapping elements, each measuring 81 x 362 cm. It hangs at Musée Soulages in Rodez.

Polyptychs are works made up of several panels, which is the case for the great majority of Outrenoirs. This format gave Pierre Soulages the opportunity to bring discontinuity to the surface through contrasting textures, overlapping horizontal and vertical strokes to be revealed by the light. The artist also brought the spectator into the equation, since the appearance of the work changes under the influence of light and texture as the viewer moves around. His approach to black is made even more powerful by the fact that it stretches across several panels in monumental dimensions. Its power of attraction is as strong as the technique that brought it into being.

An interaction between art and watchmaking

To understand the foundations of Pierre Soulages’ work, to reenact – freely, but as respectfully as possible – its formal and artistic expression, and to capture the strength and emotion that emanates from it are all challenges that Baume & Mercier took to heart. Every detail of the watch case and dial resonate with the creation, in both artistic and watchmaking terms.

This interaction between art and watchmaking has been an integral part of the history of Baume & Mercier since Paul Mercier – an art lover who surrounded himself with painters and writers – partnered with the watchmaker William Baume in 1918 to found the Baume & Mercier brand in 1920. The history of the house is interwoven with the world of art. Most importantly, it established the foundations for a vision of watchmaking that continues on today, based on craftsmanship and artistic sensibility in pursuit of design, innovative shapes, and a balance of volumes, proportions, and precise lines. This technical and aesthetic discipline is symbolized by the Greek letter Phi, a reference to the golden ratio that Baume & Mercier has chosen as its emblem. This history of creativity has been evident in each collection throughout the decades, and has brought success to the brand’s modern, bold, liberating approach.

The Hampton Collection, or the artistic expression of time

With a streamlined rectangular case and dial comparable to a canvas, the Hampton Collection offers the perfect exhibition space for the reproduction of Peinture 324 x 362 cm, 1986, Polyptyque I. The successor to a model that the brand launched in the 1960s – itself inspired by the Art Deco of the 1920s – is a striking tribute to art which, since its release in 1994, has epitomized the ultimate shape watch so distinctive of Baume & Mercier. Its understated minimalist design elegantly showcases this work, which is transposed in its every detail, and frames the overlay of vertical and horizontal strokes that form the composition and adorn the dial.

Monumental technical and aesthetic complexity

From the exploration of the color black to the transposition of light effects, the design was a considerable technical and aesthetic challenge which required the use of innovative 3D printing technology. The miniaturization of such a large surface – faithfully reproducing a painting that spans 324 x 362 cm onto a dial of 48.11 x 31 mm with a thickness of just 10 mm – requires ingenuity and technical skill that made this project particularly stimulating for the Baume & Mercier teams. Pierre Soulages took the artistic endeavor to heart and personally expressed his wishes for it. In particular, the teams made sure to showcase the contrasts of light effects on the watch components. The use of laser-cut brass and Levant stone create a soft matte appearance. The use of electrolysis makes it possible to plate the dial with color in a thickness of just 0.2 microns. A coat of semi-matte protective glaze is also applied in a thickness of 10 microns. These materials and processes liberate the volume, sculpt the texture, and showcase the alternating dark-and-light effects.

The dial of the “Hampton Polyptyque Edition – Musée Soulages 10th Anniversary” watch is a black composition in the image of this painting, which juxtaposes vertical and diagonal strokes. It emanates the force distinctive of all the visual variations of this work. The black hour and minute hands are tipped with hemispheres in 750/1000 rose gold, which the artist himself chose to imprint the design with his creative force and figurative vision of time.

The rectangular case in DLC steel is sandblasted and coated with hydrogenated amorphous carbon ions through plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD) in a thickness of 2 microns, providing a hardness of 6,000 Vickers. It is protected by a scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal, treated on both sides with an anti-glare coating. “Baume & Mercier” lettering appears as a metallic engraving on the underside of the sapphire crystal. The underside of the case is also protected by a sapphire crystal, which is fastened with four screws. A  “Musée Soulages 10ème Anniversaire n° xxx/328” engraving appears above it.

An automatic mechanical Swiss movement (ETA 2892) drives this timepiece, of which the exquisite finishes are demonstrated by the circular-grained bridge. The black oscillating weight, adorned with “Côtes de Genève” decoration, appears through the transparent case back. The watch, which indicates hours and minutes, offers a 42-hour power reserve and water-resistance to 5 ATM (approx. 50m).

It is mounted on a cellulose strap lined in apple leather. Its deep black color visually extends the chromatic power that emanates from the timepiece beyond its case. The interchangeable strap features a reliable spring bar system that allows it to be changed without the use of tools. It fastens with a DLC steel pin buckle.

A presentation case in the image of Musée Soulages

The exclusive watch presentation case pays tribute to the contemporary architecture of Musée Soulages in Rodez. Designed by the Catalan architectural firm RCR Arquitectes, the building won the Pritzker Architexture Prize, the highest distinction in the field. The case is entirely crafted in weathering steel like the siding of the museum building. The iridescent rust effects of its patina also evoke the passage of time.

To modestly yet proudly reenact the strokes of the immense painter Pierre Soulages. To pay tribute to his personality and work. To uphold the memory of that magnificent encounter. The creative exchange that began in the Sète-based villa will inspire timepieces to come, and will continue to contribute to the artistic vision of watchmaking so distinctive of Baume & Mercier. That watchmaking vision inherited from the Baume family, which has endured for nearly 200 years, shines through the dashing Riviera collection. The brand defied the watchmaking codes of the times when, in 1973, it revealed an unprecedented case with a dodecagonal bezel topped with a flat-linked metal strap. It got noticed and became an object of desire, and here it is, fifty years later, still just as creative. During this time of peace and serenity, time appears to stand still and the worries of the world seem to fade. This land of contrasts and of paradisaical natural beauty is the idyllic showcase for architectural design. Whether it is adventure or romanticism, whether artistic or gourmet inspiration, the Riviera offers up what each individual seeks.  

At the next Watches & Wonders, Baume & Mercier will reveal new models of the Riviera Collection, paying tribute to the various facets of the French Riviera, which inspired it. While illustrating the Maison’s design savoir-faire and watchmaking expertise, they evoke the distinguishing features of this coastal region’s legendary art of living: the ocean, the mountains, the sky, the streamlined architecture of its modern villas, and of course, its festive nights.  

Beginning in February 2024, the Brand begins its journey to the Riviera by presenting a sneak preview of the first timepiece in the Riviera colors, which features a nautical touch: the RIVIERA MARÉOGRAPHE. 

The RIVIERA MARÉOGRAPHE (10761)  IS DEDICATED TO THE OCEAN AND THE PASSION OF THE OPEN SEA 

As the morning waves lap the coast of the Riviera, a tide watch is set into movement. Its high-contrast blue design mirrors the ocean, while its tide-measurement abilities reflect the sailing spirit of the region. The one who wears this watch drops anchor to better admire the sea, Riviera on the wrist. As the breakers roll past, the timepiece provides insight in the form of precise measurements which demonstrate the watchmaker’s savoir-faire. As the open sea takes on the purple hues of the setting sun, the Riviera continues to tell the time, relentlessly expressing the emotion and power that emanate from the water. It cruises along, an unfailing symbol of the connection between man and nature: a constant reminder of how important it is to love and respect the natural world around us.  

Available in a limited edition of just 500, the Riviera Maréographe follows the ebb and flow of the tides in a satin-polished stainless steel dodecagonal case measuring 43 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in thickness. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides protects it. The polished and sun-satin stainless steel bezel is fastened with four polished steel screws in sandblasted ADLC-coated steel. The dodecagonal case back is fastened with four screws and may be customized with your choice of engraving. It also bears a special engraving, “Special Edition One Out of 500.” The octagonal crown is screwed in and decorated with the brand’s emblem, the Phi logo, embossed and delineated in black. The push-button at 4 o’clock makes it possible to adjust the tide disk.   

In a harmonious tonal palette of sun-satin blue and edged by a flange, the dial is dotted with Roman numerals at 12 o’clock and rhodium-plated riveted indexes at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, coated with white Superluminova offering a blue glow. The white transfers are also coated with white Superluminova for a blue luminosity. The rhodium-plated hour and minute hands are openworked and also coated with white Superluminova that shows up blue in the dark. Last but not least, the rhodium-plated seconds hand bears the Phi logo as a counterweight, and its tip is overlaid with white Superluminova for a blue glow. The blue disk that indicates the high and low tides is sandblasted and snailed.  

Ensuring precision, durability and robustness, the self-winding Baumatic manufacture movement brings this model a high level of precision, a five-day power reserve (120 hours), and protection against everyday magnetic fields. A six-year warranty extension compliments the standard two-year international warranty, bringing an eight-year guarantee to anyone registering on the Baume & Mercier website: www.baume-et-mercier.com. This timepiece oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and offers water-resistance to 10 ATM (approximately 100m). Sophisticated finishes round out this technical performance: circular-grained bridges, a sand-blasted and snailed baseplate, an openworked oscillating weight adorned with snailed and “Côtes de Genève" designs, and a unique Baume & Mercier engraving.

A majestic golden dragon claws at a pair of moons which rotate slowly to display the actual moon’s phase cycle in the sky. This vivid scene evokes the traditional Chinese decorative pattern which depicts a dragon playing with pearls, symbolizing peace and longevity. The combination of watch complications and gentlemanly style  

These three timepieces assert everyday watch complications with great mastery. Baume & Mercier has gone one step further in animating the Classima Collection. A GMT watch, a watch featuring a visible balance wheel and power reserve, and a skeleton watch with small seconds will thrill as much for their practical use as for their aesthetic appeal.  

Self-winding Classima capsule edition, GMT (M0A10734) 

Hands that display the hours, minutes, seconds, and the (24-hour) GMT – with the second time zone making a 24-hour rotation – are showcased within an iconic round case in polished stainless steel with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 8.80 mm. A scratch-proof domed sapphire crystal protects it. The solid case back may be custom-engraved.  

Each time display appears harmoniously on the dial to be read in perfect unity while subtly highlighting each specific piece of information through contrasting colors and sizes. 

In sun-satin blue, it is enhanced with a black flange and a white minute track and decorated with diagonal stripes evoking fabric patterns. The Arabic numerals and indexes are white. The leaf hands that display the hours, minutes and seconds are rhodium-plated, while the central GMT hand is blue.  

The self-winding movement offers a 42-hour power reserve and oscillates at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vph). It is water-resistant to 3 ATM (approximately 30 m). 

The watch is mounted on an interchangeable blue Holland & Sherry Super 120 wool strap with colored saddle stitching. It is finished with a stainless steel pin buckle. The strap may be changed without the use of tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system. A second interchangeable strap in black alligator, featuring a stainless steel pin buckle, is also included.  It may also be removed without the need for tools thanks to the very reliable spring bar system.    

Self-winding Classima capsule edition, visible balance wheel and power reserve (M0A10718) 

This piece features a visually strong design with a sun-satin gray dial decorated with diagonal lines. It forms a backdrop against which the balance wheel and escapement, at 12 o’clock, confront the power reserve indicator, at 6 o’clock. On either side, the hours, minutes and seconds are indicated by Arabic numerals and white indexes, gold-tone leaf hands, and a white-and-gold-tone minute track. 

Containing a self-winding movement featuring a 42-hour power reserve and oscillating at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vph), the round case in polished stainless steel has a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 10.1 mm. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, as is the case back, which may be engraved. The watch is water-resistant to 3 ATM (approx. 30 m). 

The watch is mounted on an interchangeable strap in brown Holland & Sherry Super 120 wool with colored saddle stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle. It is interchangeable without the need for tools thanks to a very reliable spring bar system. An additional interchangeable strap in black alligator with a stainless steel pin buckle is also included, and it also features a very reliable spring bar system that may be changed without the need for tools. 

 Hand-wound Classima capsule edition , skeleton and small seconds (M0A10735) 

This very graphic timepiece showcases the full stylistic and technical savoir-faire of Baume & Mercier with a hand-wound skeleton movement displaying small seconds at 6 o’clock on a blue sapphire dial with a black flange. The Arabic numerals and indexes are rhodium-plated, as are the leaf hands of the hours, minutes and small seconds. The minute track is white.  

The round case in polished stainless steel has a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 8.95 mm. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal which, like the case back, may be engraved.  

The movement offers a 46-hour power reserve and oscillates at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vph). The watch is water-resistant to 5 ATM (approx. 50 m). 

The piece includes two interchangeable straps equipped with a very reliable spring bar system that makes it possible to change them without the use of tools. The first is in dark blue Holland & Sherry Super 120 wool with colored saddle stitching, while the second is in black alligator. Each is topped with a stainless steel pin buckle.
